L O R E T T A . S T A P L E S

Hello. I'm Loretta.

At the end of 2001, I finished a year and a half in eBusiness strategy consulting at Scient, after 4 years in teaching and visual research at the University of Michigan School of Art & Design. Prior to Scient and teaching, I'd spent many years designing, including running my own studio in San Francisco, U dot I.

I wrote and spoke extensively about the impact of digital technology on contemporary design and experience, before turning to painting.

In 2003, I helped co-found Indigo Blue, which served as Yale's first fulltime Buddhist chaplaincy. Shortly thereafter, I resumed teaching in design and management at Parsons The New School for Design. I also became a student at UConn's School of Social Work, and now practice design of another kind - as a therapist at Cityblock, and in private practice at Loretta Staples LCSW in New Haven. I'm also working on a new venture, building an online course and coaching program to help therapists become more creative in life and work, the More Creative Therapist.
